| Where the machine is placed on the market | Rules that apply |
|---|---|
| EU Member States | Regulation (EU) 2023/1230 from 20 January 2027 (Directive 2006/42/EC until then) |
| Northern Ireland | EU rules continue to apply under the Windsor Framework, so the Regulation applies from the same date |
| Great Britain | UK legislation (Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations 2008), not the EU Regulation |
What this means for your paperwork
- If you export to the EU or supply Northern Ireland, list those models now and plan to re-issue declarations in the new format.
- If you only sell in Great Britain, the EU Regulation does not change your obligations, but customers who re-export may ask for EU documents.
- If you use an EU importer or authorised representative, check with them which documents they expect and from when.
Check the current position on gov.uk and EUR-Lex before relying on this summary; rules and guidance can change.
